Rocky Hill’s boys 4X200 ran 1:40.45 for a 24th place overall finish Friday.
Terriers and Eagles Run in Yale Invitational
WETHERSFIELD/ROCKY HILL - The Wethersfield and Rocky Hill indoor track teams sent runners to the 31st Yale Interscholastic Track Classic Friday-Saturday, Jan. 18-19, at Yale’s Coxe Cage.

       For Wethersfield, both the boys 4X400- and 4X800-meter relays had top 10 finishes. The 4X8 of seniors Greg Schroeder, Marc Howes, Jason DiFazio and freshman Troy Stegman finished ninth overall in 8:56.57. The 4X4 of Schroeder, Difazio, Stegman and junior Connor Jones finished tenth in 3:40.73.

       Senior Oneil Drummond was first for the Eagles in the 55-meters in 7.02, followed by freshmen Lorenzo Burgos (7.34) and Elijah Young (7.50).

       Freshman Eric Wright ran a 42.69 300-meter race. Senior Matt Duggan finished the 3,000 in 10:02.59. DiFazio also clocked his 55-meter hurdles in 8.88 and senior Jalyn Campbell jumped 19’ 8” in the long jump.

       The Wethersfield girls 4X800 relay of sophomores Alana Ciarcia and Erica Teti, junior Nicole Varca and freshman Rebecca Hine finished 22nd overall in 10:57.95. The 4X200 of freshman Gabby Scacca, sophomore Gloria Zhu, junior Nancy Glynn and senior Tiffanie Tran finished 31st overall in 2.00.07.

       Varca also ran the 300 in 49.87.

       Rocky Hill sophomore Alex Brown ran a 39.30 300 meters, followed by teammates junior Tommy Caruso (39.93) and seniors Shaharyar Zuberi (40.25) and Shane Steinman (40.64).

       The boys 4X200 of Brown, Steinman, Zuberi and junior Alex DeNardo finished 24th overall in 1:40.45.

       Junior Alex Tan competed in the mile in 4:32.23.

       On the girls side, sophomore Briana Wilson won her section of the 55 meters in 46.28, placing 65th overall. The 4X800 of juniors Laura Dobmeier and Jackie Saucier and seniors Emily Miehlke and Katie Seaver placed 26th overall in 11:03.41.
