Carpino Appointed to MORE Commission
CROMWELL - State Rep. Christie Carpino (Cromwell and Portland) has been appointed to serve on the legislature’s newly-reconstituted Municipal Opportunities & Regional Efficiencies Commission (MORE), which has been tasked with finding a new approach to make the state and local governments more economically competitive.

Carpino was appointed to the MORE Commission’s Board of Education Budget Subcommittee, one of the four focuses of the committee, which also include municipal tax authority, regional entities and mandates. The commission will look at legal obstacles preventing cost-savings changes.

“When done correctly, regional cooperation can help improve government services, create efficiencies and save taxpayers money. I look forward to participating in this bipartisan effort to reach these goals,” Carpino said, adding she looks forward to hearing from Cromwell and Portland boards of education, school administrators and educators on their thoughts on efficiencies.

The MORE Commission’s Board of Education Budget Subcommittee held its first meeting Thursday, March 14.
