Annual Haiti Benefit Race Set for September
ROCKY HILL - On Saturday, Sept. 20, Saint Elizabeth Seton Church in Rocky Hill invites runners, walkers, wheelchair athletes and families to the seventh annual â€"Hoof-it for Haiti” 5K Run/Walk. Honorary chair, WFSB reporter Jill Konopka, will help kick off and participate in this event at 9:30 a.m. on the church grounds at 280 Brook St.

Race day registration is from 7:30-9 a.m. and costs $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. A family fee of $45 covers three or more. Early bird registrants who sign up online before Sept. 19 pay $20 for adults, while other rates remain the same. Other events include a Kids Dash for ages 12 and under, which starts at 9 a.m., and a 2.5-mile fun run/walk for all ages. Individuals and families who raise $100 in pledges are registered for free. All participants pick up commemorative T-shirts and numbers on race day while supplies last. Refreshments will also be available at no charge. The top three finishers in all nine divisions go home with awards.

Funds raised will help feed, educate, shelter and provide medical care for children and adults in the twinning parish of St. Anne’s Parish in Saintard, Haiti. This is the 14th year the Saint Elizabeth Seton community has reached out to assist families in this Caribbean nation, the poorest in the Western hemisphere. Tax deductible donations are also welcomed.
