New Group offers Helping Hands for Preschooler Moms
CROMWELL - For mothers of pre-kindergarten age children, juggling the emergent and ever-changing needs of a young child with self-care--even finding a few minutes to have a quiet meal--can feel like a run through a parcourse!

Mothers of Preschoolers, or MOPS, is a new outlet for mothers who are looking to reconnect with like-minded women in a supportive, engaging and trusting atmosphere. An outreach ministry at Hilltop Covenant Church, Cromwell MOPS is part of a national organization that aims to bring moms together for fun and support. The national organization aims to connect moms all over the world to a community of women, in their own neighborhoods, who meet together to laugh, cry and embrace the journey of motherhood.

Each local MOPS group meeting includes time to discuss the concerns, stresses and celebrations that come with raising young children. Ample time to establish new friendships and special playtime for kids is incorporated into MOPS meetings.

â€"It is so nice to relax, feel supported and even do a craft as we all share the triumphs and challenges of raising small children,” said Barbara Damon, a mentor to the group. â€"This is a great way to meet other moms and make new friends.”

On Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 6 p.m., MOPS founding members will host an Open House at Hilltop Covenant Church, 82 Hicksville Rd., Cromwell. Moms will be treated to a meal for themselves and their children, special play time for the kids (provided by licensed day care staff) and special â€"me” time for the moms. Beginning Nov. 4, MOPS group meetings will be held every other Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call 860-836-8189. Also find the group on Facebook or visit www.mops.org .
