Come Together, Cromwell
CROMWELL - Amazing things can happen when a small group of dedicated citizens come together for a common purpose. The combined effort and unique talents of each person become something so much more than the sum of what each person brings to the proverbial table.

A small town like Cromwell doesn’t need a tragic event to bring people together. The love of our little community and the desire to see it evolve and fulfill its potential should be motivation enough. If that notion strikes a chord with you, consider all the ways you can get involved, right now, in Cromwell.

Contact the Board of Education, Town Hall or Cromwell Belden Library to find out about volunteer opportunities. You don’t need to have children in the school system to lend your expertise, or interest in the future of education, to a committee focusing on curriculum, school-to-career programs, or school-community engagement. Retired educators, local business owners and entrepreneurs have experience and skill sets that can bring a new level of excitement and vision to any project.

Consider your interests and work and life experience as well as your hobbies. Inquire about how those skill sets may be of benefit to a project, event or committee work. Several committees and workgroups operate through the schools, library, recreation department and the Parent Teacher Organizations. These groups organize numerous events from book fairs to holiday festivities to literary performances. If you have athletic experience, you might like to give your time to our littlest athletes by helping out with recreational sports programs. You could coach, referee, or simply help with administrative work in the office. You won’t know what important role you might play unless you ask.

Your time commitment can be as little as 30 minutes a month, or more if you desire. There may even be things you can do from home or while you are on your weekly errand run. Whether you are 13 or 93, without a doubt, there is a group or event in which your helping hands can make a difference. You’ll be glad you did…and Cromwell will thank you for it!
