Convenience Store Clerk Found in Violation of Tobacco Sales Statute
CROMWELL - On Friday, Nov. 14, the Cromwell Police Department and members of the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program, conducted unannounced compliance inspections of 15 local establishments that sell tobacco products. One of the establishments was found to be in violation of state statute against the sale of tobacco to minors under the age of 18.

       Kamran Sarfraz, the clerk at Express Food Mart/Gulf gas station, 538 Main St., was issued an infraction carrying a fine of $200 for the violation.

       â€"The inspections were performed in an effort to determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of sale of cigarettes and/or tobacco products to youths under the age of 18,” according to Cromwell Police.
