CROMWELL - The Cromwell Junior Women’s Club is pleased to announce that Jean Tatro has been chosen to receive the 2015 Cromwell Woman of the Year Award. This annual award is presented to a female resident of Cromwell who has distinguished herself through contributions to the community.

An achieved artist, Tatro is a life long resident of Cromwell. She gives freely of time and talents and is a very dedicated person who always has the good of the community at heart.

The Cromwell Historical Society and the Friends of the Library are perhaps the greatest beneficiaries of Tatro’s volunteer efforts. At the Historical Society, where she has volunteered for many years, Tatro, has served many capacities--from docent to Barn Sale cashier. Similarly, she has been an active member of the Friends of Library for over two decades, where she has used her artistic talents to assist the library and its many activities. She has served as Chairperson and was honored by the Friends of Connecticut Libraries group in 2012 for her individual achievement of volunteerism.

Tatro is very involved in a number of capacities at St. John Catholic Church. She is a charter member of the parish’s Women’s Group and has served as CCD teacher and lecturer among other things.

A public reception in Tatro’s honor will be held at Cromwell Town Hall on Saturday, March 14, at 2 p.m. Tatro will be presented with a proclamation by the Town Manager and Mayor, and a plaque commemorating her achievement. The plaque will be hung and displayed in the Town Hall lobby for the rest of the year.
