WETHERSFIELD - For more than 70 years, Greater Hartford residents have trusted family-owned and operated Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home for professional and caring funeral arrangements and planning services.

The Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home legacy began in 1943 when Thomas F. Farley opened a funeral home in Hartford. Robert P. Sullivan, who attended the New York School of Embalming and Restorative Art, later joined the funeral home. After the passing of Thomas Farley and his wife, Marguarite, â€"Bob” Sullivan continued to operate the funeral home and eventually assumed ownership. His sons, Bobby, Kevin and Tom, also joined the funeral home as they each became licensed embalmers and funeral directors. Kevin and Tom continue to operate the funeral home, while Bobby remained with the business until his passing in 2009.

â€"As a family business, we have been involved in some fashion since we were old enough to help out,” said Tom, whose son, Brendan, is also entering the business to carry on the family legacy. â€"Along with our other director, Mark Console, this allows us to bring a personal touch to every family we service.”

In 1976, The Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home expanded to a second location in Glastonbury. In 1996, the Hartford location moved to a larger, remodeled building in Wethersfield.

The team at Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home provides personal attention to meet the needs of each family. They offer professional, knowledgeable guidance for the many options available, including funeral arrangements, memorial and graveside ceremonies, cremation services and veterans’ funeral services. The funeral home also provides information on resources for grieving and healing, legal matters and more.

The professionals at Farley-Sullivan can assist with every facet of pre-planning arrangements, as well.

Recently, Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home was recognized for its continued generosity toward the Intensive Education Academy in West Hartford, established in 1971 by Helen E. Dowd. The academy works with students with special educational needs to transition them back into traditional schools and into employment.

â€"Our parents, Bob and Pat Sullivan were  very supportive of Sister Helen in the early days and up until their passing,” said Tom. â€"It was always one of their favorite causes and they have, in turn, passed that on to us.”
