Cromwell High School Graduates 127
CROMWELL - During the Cromwell High School annual commencement ceremony held Wednesday, June 17, the 127 graduating seniors of the Class of 2015 were asked to pull a small key out from under their chairs.

â€"Each key has its own cut, its own purpose,” said CHS special education teacher Steven Tolles, who delivered the welcome address to the class at the sunny ceremony in front of the high school. â€"You already hold the key to success. No one can take it away from you.”

The members of the Class of 2015’s hard work, perseverance and dedication have set them apart from the rest, said Tolles.

â€"Your teachers have taken the necessary steps to build your independence,” he said. â€"The ball is in your court; it’s up to you to write your own destiny.

Class valedictorian Craig Marquard agreed that four years at Cromwell High School have set the graduates on the path to success.

â€"Most people at CHS would agree that the teachers here teach us how to make a living. We will realize one day that we will use these things,” he said.

However, Marquard said, his classmates helped show him how to live. â€"A sense of morality and community was promoted every day.”

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paula Talty gave the students some advice for the road on living a fulfilling life, in the form of advice she wish she had received at her own high school graduation.

â€"Number one: Put the phone down and learn to be a better listener,” she said. â€"Number two: There really are no mistakes in life, just opportunities for learning.”

For her third and fourth tips, Talty told the students to envision their lives as a movie in which they star.

â€"You get to pick the cast, so choose wisely…Your friends and family are a main part of that cast,” she said. â€"And remember, others are the stars of their own movies. Not everything that happens is about you.”

The superintendent’s final word of advice to the graduating class: Envision your dreams.

Salutatorian Adam Kochanowicz reminded his fellow graduates never to forget their roots on their paths to success.

â€"Remember the place you came from and take everything you learned with you,” he said. â€"Seek out adventure and make life interesting, but bring a little piece of Cromwell with you wherever you go.”
