ROCKY HILL - The Hoof-it for Haiti 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at Saint Elizabeth Seton Church in Rocky Hill. Each year, runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes support Saint Anne’s Parish in Saintard, Haiti. With 300 participants each year, they have been able to raise more than $100,000 over the past seven years.

       This year’s honorary chair is Mike Stacy from the WRCH 100.5 FM morning show, who will help kick off and participate in this eighth annual event at 9:30 a.m. on the church grounds at 280 Brook St., Rocky Hill.

       Radio 104.1 Battle of the Band winners, Wizard Farm, will be performing again at this year’s race. As a contribution, the band will be recording a commemorative CD in which a portion of the proceeds will benefit Haiti. For more information on purchasing a CD, visit www.wizardfarmmusic.com .

       Race Day registration is from 7:30-9 a.m. and costs $30 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. A family fee of $50 covers three or more. Early bird registrants who sign up online before Sept. 18 pay $25 for adults. Other events include a Kids Dash for ages 12 and under, which starts at 9 a.m., and a 2.5-mile fun run/walk for all ages. Individuals and families who raise $100 in pledges are registered for free. All participants pick up commemorative T-shirts and numbers on race day, while supplies last. Refreshments are also available at no charge. The top three finishers in all nine divisions go home with awards.

       Funds raised will help feed, educate, shelter and provide medical care for children and adults in the twin parish of St. Anne’s in Haiti. The is the 15th year the Saint Elizabeth Seton community has reached out to assist families in this Caribbean nation, the poorest in the Western Hemisphere. Tax deductible donations are welcomed.
