Cromwell Republican Slate Announced
CROMWELL - Cromwell Mayor Enzo Faienza and his Republican team were unanimously endorsed by the Cromwell Republicans to lead the Republican ticket in the November municipal elections.

â€"What I’m most grateful for is the support I’ve received from Republicans tonight and from all the residents of Cromwell since I took office,” said Faienza. â€"I was elected as the first mayor of Cromwell not knowing what to expect, but I must tell you in two years, we have accomplished so much as a town and we have much to do. I am ready to continue working for all the residents of Cromwell.”

The Republicans in Cromwell nominated four residents for Town Council: current councilors Richard Newton and Frank Emanuele Jr. and two new candidates Edward Wenners and Samantha Slade.

The Cromwell GOP also filled their slate with three Board of Education candidates: Megan Midgley, Jay Fletcher Jr. and Philip Gagnon.

Incumbent long-time town councilor Allan Spotts was nominated to run for the vacant Town Clerk position, while Doug Sienna was endorsed to run for a third-term as the town Tax Collector.

In his acceptance speech, Faienza highlighted the successes of his first term as mayor:

·Fought for a very lean General Government Budget’s to protect the taxpayers.

·Worked and brought forward a proposal to the council to put a new 27 slot parking lot with handicap spots to WIS School ball fields.

·Moved the Northern Tier project forward. Once this is completed this will open up that area for the development of a major business park.

·Worked as a liaison to improve our economic development in town. In the past two years we have had an influx of new business in town.

       ·Continued our Cromwell Works Program.

·Pushed to strengthen the bond between the BOE and the Town. We now have a strong connection and one initiative we began together was we created the Cromwell Arts Alliance.

·Worked to convert our streets lights to LED saving taxpayers $150, 000 per year.

First elected in 2013, Faienza promised transparency, fiscal responsibility and to work on ‘building a bridge to the future’ which the Cromwell Republican team has pushed forward on.

â€"I am excited and honored to be nominated to serve as a town councilor. I love this town and want to work with Mayor Faienza and other members of the Town Council to maintain and build upon our excellent schools and services, while ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency,” said Samantha Slade.

Filling out the Republican slate are:

Incumbents Julius Neto and John Henehan will be running on the GOP ticket for the Board of Finance.

On the Planning and Zoning Commission relative newcomer Kenneth Slade, who was appointed last year and current Vice Chair Michael Cannata will be the Republicans on the November ballot.

Republican incumbents, Anthony Gagnon and Roy Rowland will be running again for Board of Assessment of Appeals.

The Zoning Board of Appeals Republicans nominees are incumbent David Ricard and Daniel Delisle.
