Construction was completed last week on the brand new Kathy’s Urgent Care office in Wethersfield, which is holding its grand opening event Thursday from 5-7 p.m.

WETHERSFIELD - Throughout his medical career, Dr. Thomas Brown has been dedicated to thorough patient care. He continues that commitment with the opening of Kathy’s Urgent Care in Wethersfield.

       Named in honor of Dr. Brown’s mother, who passed away a few years ago, Kathy’s Urgent Care is a patient-centric walk-in clinic, focusing on providing exceptional customer service in the treatment of minor illnesses and injuries as well as routine care.

       Dr. Brown completed his medical training at the West Virginia University School of Medicine and the University College Dublin School of Medicine in Ireland. He completed his clinical training in internal medicine at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. Dr. Brown served as the medical director of Doctors Express in West Hartford and Danbury.

       In practice since 2004, Dr. Brown has a wide range of experience that spans from primary care to urgent and emergency care, as well as having served in an academic capacity. As an internal medicine physician, he focuses on not only treating current ailments, but preventative care for his patients.

       Construction crews put the finishing touches on the brand new, state-of-the-art Kathy’s Urgent Care office this week, which features a comfortable waiting area and large exam rooms. The clinic will host a grand opening celebration Thursday, Aug. 27, from 5-7 p.m. at the office’s Silas Deane Highway location, adjacent to the TD Bank at the intersection with Wells Road. The public is welcome to attend.

       From Friday, Aug. 28, through Thursday, Sept. 3, Kathy’s Urgent Care will be offering free physicals, no appointment necessary. The medical staff will perform back to school and sports physicals and Dr. Brown is also authorized to perform immigration physicals.

       Kathy’s Urgent Care also offers immunizations and vaccinations; can perform x-rays and lab work on site; and specializes in treating colds and allergies; ear, eye and throat problems as well as fractures.

       Almost all insurances are accepted at Kathy’s Urgent Care, including Husky/Medicaid. Bilingual staff are on-hand. Appointments are not necessary and patients can expect to be seen within 30 minutes. The office also keeps electronic medical records for privacy, security and convenience.
