Amazing Grace Challenge Soup Supper Benefit
MIDDLETOWN - Join us Thursday, Oct. 22, from 5–7 p.m., at the AME Zion Church on the corner of West Street and Wadsworth Street in Middletown to enjoy a bowl of homemade soup at the annual St. Vincent DePaul Amazing Challenge Soup Supper, to benefit the Amazing Grace Food Pantry.

The Reverend Moses Harvell and the members of the AME Zion Church have graciously donated their larger space to the Amazing Challenge. In past years, the soup supper was held at the Monsignor M. Davitt Fox Parish Center at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Middletown, but because of the record supporters of the soup supper, a larger facility had to be considered. St. Vincent DePaul, Middletown is grateful for the years of generosity from St. Francis of Assisi Church.

This year, 12 soups will be featured, including the fabulous South Fire District Firehouse Chili! Middlesex Hospital will be making a heart healthy soup, along with soups from South Church, First Church, Holy Trinity Church, Mellili Café, Blackbird Tavern and Sterling Realty to name a few. Coffee will be donated from Dunkin Donuts and cupcakes donated by NoRA Cupcakes!

Once again, music will be provided by the Back Swamp Band.

Cathie Giuffrida, chair of the event and her committee of the Amazing Grace Advisory Group have spent many hours recruiting soup makers, soup scoopers and volunteers from all walks of life including students from area high schools, who serve guests, clean tables, cut bread and restock serving stations.

In the past year, the Amazing Grace Food Pantry has served over 900 families a month. Your participation in the soup supper enables the pantry to purchase more food for an ever growing number of neighbors in need.
