Silas Deane Highway Bank Robbed
WETHERSFIELD - Wethersfield police are searching for a suspect in a bank robbery, the second to occur in town since late August, that took place Oct. 20.

       Police say that the responded to a robbery report at 12:49 p.m. at The People’s United Bank at 1310 Silas Deane Highway on that day, according to Wethersfield Police.

       No weapon was used during the robbery, and the suspect reportedly demanded the money through a note handed to the teller, according to police.

       The suspect, caught in a photograph, was wearing dark glasses and a cap to cover his face. The suspect was described as speaking in a â€"raspy voice” and missing teeth, the statement said. The suspect is pictured, right.

       Wethersfield Police Lieutenant Mark Poisson did not immediately return a call requesting comment or updated information pertaining to the case.

       A TD Bank, also on the Silas Deane Highway, had a similar robbery take place Aug. 31, although police have made no indication that the two incidents are linked.

       Matthew Dragone of Middletown was arrested Sept. 21 and charged as a suspect in a string of bank robberies that allegedly includes the one at the TD Bank in Wethersfield, according to a Sept. 21 press release from the FBI’s New Haven Division.
